Let's help Tin fight and overcome her battle!!!
On March 3, 2022, Tin experienced epigastric pain relieved with defecation and flatus. There was one episode of vomiting. This prompted us to rush her to the hospital. She was given several IV pain relievers which offered no relief.
THE DIAGNOSIS
On March 7, 2022, ultrasound was done and revealed stones in the bile duct. We were then referred to De La Salle University Medical Center in DasmariΓ±as, Cavite for further evaluation. After a month of several consultations and laboratory tests - ultrasound, CT scan, colonoscopy, and biopsy, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer (Adenocarcinoma Colon with Metastases in Liver and Lungs).
THE FIRST BATTLE
April 19, 2022, she was admitted to DLSUMC. Several tests were conducted before the operation. Based on the blood tests, doctors said that she has low hemoglobin count. Thus, blood transfusion was needed before, during, and after operation.
April 21, 2022, she had a surgery called left hemicolectomy. This involved removal of a part of her colon to remove the tumor found inside it as it is obstructing her bowel movement.
The operation went well, and she was able to recover. Praise the Lord! And for everyone that has helped our family in many different forms, we can't thank you all enough. Our gratitude to all of you for your kindness and generosity. On April 29, 2022, she was finally discharged from the hospital and was allowed to continue recovering at home.
THE SECOND BATTLE
Several days after Tin was discharged, we noticed that her post-operative wound was starting to open, accompanied by tenderness and yellowish discharge in the drain. On May 6, 2022, we went to the Wound Care clinic in DLSUMC as scheduled, and wound dehiscence was noted, hence she was advised for admission again.
During her readmission, conservative management was initiated and wound flushing was done. The application of vacuum assisted with negative pressure wound therapy and IV antibiotics were also done.
After eleven days, she was cleared for discharge. Home medications and wound care instructions were given.
THE CONTINUOUS BATTLE
Tin is a grade school teacher at DLSU-IS. She is currently on indefinite leave and is undergoing chemotherapy to prevent the cancer cells from spreading. On May 28, 2022, she started her first chemotherapy cycle and will continue to undergo more cycles to prevent the cancer cells from spreading. Her doctor said it would take eight cycles, but it would still depend on the reaction of the cancer cells and her body.Through God's grace and your prayers, she was able to finish eight (8) cycles from May to November 2022.According to her oncologist, as per her latest CT Scan result, the cancer cells are stable in size and number but are no longer responding to the previous medicine. She has to continue the chemotherapy with a new treatment regimen.Since Tin was hospitalized, she has not been able to work to cover her medical finances. She has tried her best to power through her illness for the sake of herself and her family.
Because of the high cost and demands of her condition, we aim to continue raising funds for her chemotherapy. We humbly knock at your generous hearts seeking financial assistance to support her medical needs as our resources are not sufficient enough to cover her treatment and expenses. Any amount of donation would be greatly appreciated.
You may not know her, but please do also pray for her healing as she fights this battle.
Thank you in advance, and may God return the favor to you a thousandfold! God Bless you all!
