After 2 days, his condition improved and he was transferred to the general pediatric ward for continuation of treatment. He was started on antibiotics. Subsequently, it was difficult to wean of oxygen and we had to change antibiotics and do regular chest physio and suctioning.
Both parents are Indonesians and currently working in Malaysia with legal permit. His mother works as a cleaner and father works as a construction worker. Total household income is about RM1000 monthly.
As the child and parents are foreigners, they are charged by the hospital foreigner's fee and the current bill amounts to RM8000 (14 days of admission).
The parents are unable to pay the bill and wish to take the child home. However, child still needs treatment (oxygen therapy and antibiotics).
