Magnitude 6.5 Earthquake Hits Garut Regency, Felt Across all Around Java Island A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck the Garut region, West Java, on Saturday (27/4) evening. According to BMKG analysis, the earthquake's epicenter was located at coordinates 8.42 degrees South Latitude (LS) and 107.26 degrees East Longitude (BT), approximately 151 km southwest of Garut Regency. The earthquake's depth was recorded at 10 km
Based on incoming data, the earthquake tremors have impacted several regions, causing varying degrees of damage from minor to severe. A total of 113 residential units have been affected, with four heavily damaged, 12 moderately damaged, 34 lightly damaged, and the rest yet to be categorized. Besides residences, there are also 14 public facilities or infrastructure damaged by the earthquake disaster, including hospital buildings, and schools.
This project will provide food support, shelter, clean water, health posts, clothing, and essential emergency supplies needed by the affected residents. Food support will be provided through the establishment of a communal kitchen, while shelter will be facilitated by constructing suitable temporary housing along with clean public toilets. Health posts will serve affected residents, preventing the spread of post-disaster diseases and providing support for children in post-disaster trauma recover
This project will support residents until they fully recover economically, socially, and psychologically, enabling them to resume their lives successfully after the disaster.
