Natural disasters destroy the possibility of a safe and healthy environment for children.

The combined effects of Typhoon Egay (Doksuri) and Typhoon Falcon (Khanun) led to widespread flooding, landslides and damage to properties and livelihood. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the storms affected an estimated 312,475 individuals and 668,974 families, of which 625,000 are children.

Cagayan is one of the provinces most devastated by this calamity. Initial assessment found that affected individuals in the area are in need of support for food and cash assistance, shelter repair and household materials, hygiene supplies, and access to clean water. With schools and homes becoming damaged in Cagayan, continuing education and accessing basic needs have become a challenge for children and their families.

Save the Children Philippines Emergency Response Team, together with our local partners, is already conducting an initial assessment in Cagayan Valley. Our response teams are conducting needs assessment in the area to determine how to best support affected children and their families in their recovery.

HOW YOU CAN HELP SUPPORT CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES

With your support, we can provide back-to-school kits, teaching kits, and family hygiene kits that can support these children in their recovery from this crisis. We ask for your aid in the form of these amounts:

PhP 1,000: Provides child-customized hygiene kits for five children

PhP 2,000: Provides back-to-school and hygiene kit for one child

PhP 4,000: Provides back-to-school and hygiene kits for two children

PhP 10,000: Contributes to the provision of of family-customized hygiene kits for six families

PhP 20,000:  Contributes to the provision of teaching kits for continuous learning activities in the evacuation sites
