Inspired by Ramanan Durairaj who lost his courageous battle to cancer in 2018, Bigger Than King Kong brings together families and friends in support of many others that continue to bravely fight, every day.
Ramanan was an active and passionate social footballer who valued sportsmanship, teamwork, loyalty, compassion, camaraderie and above all, family. Throughout his life, his passion, optimism and strength made an unmistakable mark on everyone he met. In the spirit of what Ramanan cherished most, this initiative also celebrates the beauty of life, in memory of a man who loved, experienced and lived it to the fullest.
In 2018, the Bigger Than King Kong charity football event raised over RM30,000 for MAKNA.
This year we are going BIGGER! Our chosen beneficiary in 2019 is the National Cancer Society of Malaysia, whose vision is "Living in a world without cancer".
Among the many great programmes that NCSM runs, we are particularly passionate about supporting the following:
Children's Home of Hope
- Supporting children with cancer through providing subsidised accommodation for underprivileged children (and their caregivers) from other states while they undergo cancer treatment in KL. Cost of 30 days stay for 1 child and 1 caregiver - RM2,000
Children's Cancer Fund
- Providing financial assistance to child cancer patients from families with monthly household income below RM3000, to enable the family to purchase special food formula and medication for the child, medical aids and travel expenses. Allocation for 1 child - RM500
Cancer and Health Screening Clinic
- One-stop diagnostic center that provides cancer and health screening services. Cost of providing FREE screening for underprivileged individuals - RM1,500 (for 5 individuals)
