For too many, pregnancy and childbirth are not always the joyful events we hope for. 303,000 women die around the world as a result of complications of pregnancy and childbirth, every year. That's 1 woman every 2 minutes. 99% of maternal deaths happen in the developing world. Additionally, the US is the only industrialized nation with consistently rising maternal mortality rates. Every Mother Counts works to achieve quality, respectful, and equitable maternity care for all by giving grants and working with partners and thought leaders to increase awareness and mobilize communities to take action.

My Story

Pregnancy and childbirth are moments that literally define the rest of a woman's life.  All women deserve respectful, quality care during these crucial experiences.
