Mrs. Hak Phin is 55 years old and she has been a farmer for over 20 years. She has five kids, aged between 18 and 34 years old.
She produces rice during the wet season, and farms on 10 hectares of land. The crops is harvested at 6 months (long-cycle). She produces around two tons per hectare to supply to market demand. The middleman buys all her crops directly from her home every year when harvested. She has bought her own tractor to plough her land and in the last 5 years have successfully supplied her crops to the market in good time.
Over the past few years there has also been a good demand for rice crops. Hence she applied for a loan to purchase an additional 1 hectare plot of land for growing wet-season rice. She expects to yield around 2 more tons of rice for sale to the market with this investment.
We are looking to raise USD1,842, and the loan will be repaid over 36 months.
Mrs Hak Phin is a seasoned farmer. And through her hard work and determination, will continue to build a better life for her family and local community.
