I am Hansika Lakshani. I am 21 years old, a young girl who has been living with a big problem since childhood. I have only my mother, who is unwell. My main problem is homelessness. The house I used to live in as a child has collapsed. Living there is dangerous and life-threatening. Therefore, living in a country with a struggling economy like Sri Lanka, I urgently need your kind assistance. Since I was little, I have dreamed of having a safe place to call home. My mother and I face endless sleepless nights. Due to her illness, she is not always able to do things strongly. Though sorrow and loneliness have become familiar to me, my whole prayer has always been for a shelter with a roof over our heads. I know my mother's story well. She has faced numerous severe challenges. I am familiar with all her sacrifices. However, we have been deprived of the basic rights that everyone is entitled to. Homelessness, lack of security, and absence of protection intensify our suffering. The houses we live in are temporary, built purely out of necessity. Each day, we prepare ourselves for new trials. In reality, life does not seem to be a reward that has come into our hands. We are on a difficult journey, constantly confronting our endless challenges. There is no room for us to live a life of ease with my mother, who shares all her joys and sorrows with me. My mother's hopes, opportunities, and struggles are etched in my heart. She dreams of a better life for me. But those dreams are fading without direction. With all the patience for the pain residing in my heart, I still dream of a new life, wearing the wings of hope despite the daunting journey. Can my mother’s illness be controlled?
