WE HAVE OFFICIALLY CLOSED THE CAMPAIGN! We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all those who donated online and offline. I am glad to say that we were able to meet (and exceed) our fundraising goal! Thank you for all of your support!

My Story

Hi! I’m Nielly Clarete, a volunteer for the World Youth Alliance (WYA) and I along with my co-volunteers am launching this fundraising campaign because we believe in and have personally witnessed the impact that WYA does to youth around the world.

My first encounter with WYA was in 2018 when I joined the Asia Pacific Summer Camp in Pandan, Antique (Philippines). That camp experience moved me to help launch this fundraising campaign. As a camper, I took  the WYA Certified Training Program (CTP) along with other young people around my age (some even younger!). The CTP is a short course about human dignity and the different ways this is manifested in society. I read about the stories of Nelson Mandela, The Dalai Lama, Viktor Frankl, the Solidarity Movement in Poland, and many other readings and historical text that demonstrated the importance of seeing people as people with dignity and to not see people merely as objects to be exploited.I honestly did not expect to spend my summer reading and contemplating about topics on human dignity, freedom, solidarity and international human rights laws but in the end, it was an opportunity that allowed me to face and understand fundamental truths about myself, people, and society. I learned about ideas that later helped me ground my values. I was so moved by our discussions both on an intellectual and emotional level that it not only made me realize my role in society, but it also empowered me to be more proactive.

More than ever, I believe in the work of WYA in training the youth to become leaders of change. Please help me support the work that they do by donating! Funding the camp makes sure that more young people like me will receive the same life-changing experience.

The money we will raise through this campaign will be directed to WYAAP to help fund the Summer Camp program happening this June 3 to 8 in the Philippines. My friends and I hope to reach P20,000 by the end of this campaign. Expenses will help cover venue rental, local transportation, food and lodging of campers and trainers, and camp materials like booklets and manuals.
