Fortunately major overseas humanitarian disasters can be few and far between; however you may be surprised to learn that every day the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) is helping the vulnerable here in our local community.

For children and adults living with severe disabilities in Singapore the Red Cross Home for the Disabled (RCHD) provides long-term residential, respite and day care services helping bring as much cheer and joy to their daily life as possible.

Abandoned when she was only six months old, Bee Lian never had a place she could call home. Bee Lian suffers from spastic cerebral palsy and mild mental retardation but she has never let this hold her back. After her adoptive parents passed away, she was cared for at a foster home. Now in her early fifties, she resides at RCHD where she finds joy in making friends with fellow residents and volunteers
