In light of the current economic and educational situation in Malaysia, many families are left without the resources and capacity to account for several Corona driven mandates, such as the online continuous learning utilized by many schools to assist students learning at home. Access to internet has proven to be an absolute necessity for these young students, and with many students left without a means to physically attend school, and many more struggling to study at home without a proper internet connection, the future seems uncertain in how well students will achieve the learning outcomes that they hoped to obtain at the start of the 2020 year.
A particularly sensitive group to the fallout of the current pandemic are members of the local refugee community, therefore we have chosen to target the refugee school Hope Learning Centre as the main focus of our charitable campaign. The goal we have in mind is to raise enough funds to sponsor the families of the students currently enrolled at the refugee school with a year’s worth of internet, hopefully with help from major internet companies such as Maxis, Digi, Telekom, and/or Times.
There are 54 families in need of internet, and we aim to raise 100,000RM to supply them with routers & internet for the next year.
Our campaign works as follows: We will offer a month's schedule of movement, dance and fitness classes in exchange for a donation. We have gotten together a team of local and international instructors who will be teaching these classes and 100% of the money raised will be donated to provide Hope Learning Center families with Internet.
